Approved or Release 2005/08/10: CIA-RDP79-01M'7A0002 OFFICE OF STRATEGIC SERVICES WASHINGTON, D. C. 9 May 1945 Lt. Edward L. Ullman JISPB LaSalle Building 1034 Connecticut Ave., M Washington 6, D. C. 1. Thanks for the look at the attached memorandum returned as per your request. 2. If JTS is not in a position to do something, I don't know who is. Someone certainly should do something. We have felt for a long time that this type of map is badly needed especially in the planning phases. Someday maybe we can draw up a little sample, and I'm sure everyone will jump at it. 3. Incidentally, have you thought that this covers one of the world's great unknown areas? Most HO charts are on mean low water or some such datum. Most topographic jobs are on mean sea level, etc. There is the strand area in between that is unknown in a great many areas, and it would be -very difficult to make such a map without controlled air photo cover.
