Subject: Function of this Board
1. At prevent, this beard has manuscript in on three long
studs `a on North China, Indochina, and Manchuria. These studies contain
a wealth of basic data on these areas useful to the United States Govern--
ment and its various branches in policy formation and operations. They
are being prepared at the request of Joint Chiefs of Staff. Each of these
studies is several thousand pages in length and contains 100 to 200 maps
and still more photographs. They are being edited and prepared for
publication. All copy will go to the printer by 31 Deee. ber 1945.
2. It is imperative that the studies be finished in o
the government may have a return on its already large Investment of
personnel and material used in the preparation of these studies to date.
