UNITED STATES
DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR
BUREAU OF MINES
WASHINGTON, D.C. 20240
July 11, 1968
Mr. James A. Brammell
Director, Basic and Geographic
Intelligence
Central Intelligence Agency
Washington, D.C. 20505
This acknowledges receipt of your letter of July 10 expressing
concern with our contribution to the National Intelligence Survey
Program.
Prior commitments make it necessary for me to be out of town
for the next two weeks. Meanwhile, I have instructed my staff
to take a critical look at the total program so that I may discuss
its future constructively with you. I suggest we meet for a
discussion in the last week of July.
Sincerely yours,
William A. Vogely
Assistant Director--
Mineral Resource Evaluation

on 12 July, I called Mr. Vogely's secretary to
let her know Mr. Brammell would be away "the last
week of July" and would not return till 12 August.
She then told me that Vogely would be away from
12-23 August, and we concluded mat the earliest they
could get together would be the week of 26 August.
I mentioned this to Mr. Brammell and asked that
he be reminded to-get in touch with Mr. Vogely that
week.
