Issuance of CIA/BI GM 66-2, Kashmir
Hostilities between India and Pakistan have dramatized the significance
of Kashmir as the focal point of antipathy between the two countries.
As a follow-on study to previous geographic Intelligence Memoranda
dealing with the India-Communist China confrontation,, we published
this week an assessment of environmental factors that affect the
military situation in Kashmir. The author of the study has been
drafted full time for service on the Kashmir Task Force.

Change in NIS Outline Guide
On 13 September, representatives of OBI and MW met for
discussion of a proposed change in the NIS outline guide
for Characteristics of the People. The change proposed
by OBI and agreed to by H99 calls for a discussion of
national customs and social taboos that might affect U.S., %
operations abroad?
