Issuance of CIA/OBI Map Folio on Indochina
At the request of the Director of Central Intelligence a folio
of maps on Indochina was prepared by the Cartography Division
of OBI. Fifteen maps were prepared on a common base and scale
covering subjects such as: transportation, terrain, vegetation,
industry, electric power, I)pulation, and ethnic groups. The folio
maps were.printed in two sizes, a large size suitable for briefing
purposes, and a small size suitable for desk use. Special bound
and laminated versions were prepared for the President, Director,
and other high-level persons closely associated with the Indochina
problem. Some of the special versions were provided with clear
overlays of selected topics to enable some interchange of data
from one: map to another. The maps are also available individually
from the. Map Library.
The procuction of this map folio required the expenditure of
almost 4000 man-hours over an eight-week period in the Division,
and the support and forbearance of many other offices.
