Approved For Release 20AW08/29 W7 17 April 1969 MEMORANDUM FOR: Director of Communications SUBJECT : Reporting Status of UNIVAC Equipment REFERENCE OC-M 69-192 dated 8 April 1969, same subject 1. As you suggested, I have discussed the reporting requirement for the UNIVAC 1004s and 9300s with the Information Processing Coor- dinator for the DDS&T. He assures me that there is no reason not to report this equipment. Apparently there has been some misunderstanding because the IPC/DDS&T and the IPS/OPPB tell me that this equipment was reported by OSA until the time of its transfer when some confusion seems to have crept in. The logic supporting including it in the ADP reports is that the purpose and use of the equipment is not revealed by its identification. The reporting exclusion authorized in the ADP MIS manual refers only to specially built, single purpose types of equip- ment which by design and characteristics would disclose the nature of their use. General purpose equipment must be reported even though it is dedicated to one specific application. 2. I would appreciate it if you would have the appropriate transcript sheets submitted to reflect the acquisition of the UNIVAC equipment by unit 402 and.that subsequent transactions affecting it be reported according to procedures in the MIS manual. 25X1A Chief, Support Services Staff ofloup t Approved For Release 2000/08/ T F-TgA 4 7 00100010021-7 declassification
