The Corning Glass Works is presently under contract t?produce anq. 'Improved Rear Projection Screen Material. A number of sample Screens have been produced and their physical characteristics have been measured. Although these measurements, in most cases, exceed those of the best commercially available rear projection screen material, a further aid In evaluating the samples is _subjective testing by P.1. 'a. A suitablig subjective test is now being designed by The Boeing Company. 2. Basically, the subjective testing will consist of random comparison of pairs of the sample screens as well as comparison of each of the sample screens with a Polacoat Type 1S-75 screen. In addition, subjective evaluation will be made of the resolution characteristics of the sample screens and the Polacoat Type LS-75 screen. 3. It is planned to start these tests on 3 June 1969, with comple- tion scheduled by 27 June 1969. Approximately 138 man-hours of testing, not necessarily consecutive, will be required. IEG and APSD/TSSG will furnish the personnel for test subjects. Boeing personnel will conduct the tests. 4. PSG is requested to furnish the test viewer and space to conduct these tests. Specifieally, use of the Richards Film Viewer located in room 2N833 is requested. Removal of the existing viewing screen will be required. This I-rill be accomplished by qualified personnel from the Maintenance Branch of ESD/TSSG. Restoration of the equipment to its original operating condition upon completion of the tests is assured. Also, at any time during the tests, should operational requirements dictate, the equipment will be restored to its original operating condi- tion in a minimum period of time. 5.
