Dear Pat:
ponee to your request of 3 September 1969, attached are two
copies of the coordinated views of the intelligence community with respect
to Chinese Communist command and control, and research and develop-
ment activities.
Russ Ash also asked for any additional studies which could assist
Mr. Lincoln in his consideration of the Chinese advanced weapons threat.
I am enclosing two such studies. One is a proof copy of an Intelligence
Memorandum on China'a Medium Bomber Program, and the other is a
copy of a working draft on Prospects for Chinese Solid Propellant
Strategic Missile Production. Both will be published In the near future
and it to not anticipated that there will be any major changes in. their
substance.
The Agency is also working on a study of Chinese MRBM Deployment
Prospects. We hope to have a c of a working draft of this paper in time
to bring it with no when briefs Mr. Lincoln on Friday morning,
12 September.
