1. The attached memorandum on the subject from the Acting
Chairman, Committee on Imagery Requirements and Exploitation
(COMIREX) is circulated herewith for USIB consideration of the COMIREX
recommendation in paragraph 3 that USIB approve the request of
COMUSFORKOREA in paragraph 2.
URGENT USIB ACTION REQUESTED
2. It is requested that Board Members advise the Secretariat by
1200 hours 17 May of their concurrence or other views on the COMIREX
recommendation in paragraph 3 of the attachment.

1. On 2 February 1968 the Board approved (reference a) a
COMIREX recommendation that selected sanitized BLACK SHIELD
information and photography of North Korea be released
The 2 February authorization modified the original recommendation
(reference b) in limiting authority for release to the first BLACK
SHIELD mission over North Korea, BX 6847. On 19 March USIB
approved a request to extend the release to include the second mission
over North Korea, BX 6853.
2. COM.USFORKOREA has now requested authority to
release photography and information derived from BX 6858
-under the same conditions and restrictions as approved by the
Board for the first two missions.
