1. Attached is the Committee on Imagery Requirements and
Exploitation (COMIREX) report on high-altitude photographic coverage of
Cuba for the period 12 May - 6 July 1969, which is circulated for the
information of the United States Intelligence Board (USIB).
2. COMIREX advises that normal reconnaissance of Cuba was
resumed in late May after the standown imposed in mid-April was
lifted (reference b. ). Since reconnaissance was resumed, a satisfactory
level of coverage has been achieved and it is expected this level of
accomplishment can be maintained.
3. It is not planned to schedule this report on the USIB agenda for
discussion unless specifically requested by a Board Member to do so prior
to close of business on 21 July.. In the absence of such a request, it will
be considered for record purposes that USIB "noted" the subject report
on that date.

SUBJECT: COMIREX Report on High-Altitude Photographic
Coverage of Cuba 12 May - 6 July 1969

1. The current USIB requirement for photographic coverage of
Cuba calls for a report on the percentage of area coverage and the target
category sampling over a 56-day period. The attached tables show the
number of missions flown, the percentage of area coverage, and the target
sampling average for a two-week period. The current report is for the
period 12 May - 6 July 1969.
2. Normal reconnaissance of Cuba was resumed in late May
after the standdown imposed in mid-April was lifted. Since reconnaissance
was resumed,::a satisfactory level of coverage has been achieved and it is
expected this, level of accomplishment can be maintained.
3. During this period no activity was observed which might
indicate an attempt to reintroduce or deploy offensive weapons systems
in Cuba.
4. The USIB requirement was fulfilled and it is recommended
that the Board note this report.
