REFERENCE: USIB-D-71.1/5, 19 May 1971, subject as above. At present the Department of State does not exchange substantive data in machine readable form with other UST_B member agencies nor does it contribute any machine files to the COINS experiment. The Document Storage and Retrieval System presently under development in the Department will utilize the six- digit numeric representation called for in FIPS PUB 4, Calendar Date, and the alphabetic codes contained in RIPS PU'B 10,-Countries, Dependencies and Areas of Special Sovereignty. Use of these F P standards l~s als'o contem- p7a ed for the Traffic Analysis and Guidance System (TAGS) which will be undergoing operational tests scheduled to begin in the near future.
