01ilectlvely, the committees and s ubcom aittees provide the
basic nechanis; by which and through which the foreign
intelligence activities of the various agencies onga;ed
;herein are coordinated and correlated to achieve overall
a ft nal objectives. The coordination and correlation
tions of these committees include aspects of intelligence
production, intelligence collection, and certain support
activities. Each coy i ittee is concerned with a c efinite and
smecii'iod subject area in which, by 111SC or other dire ;tive,
rosponsi.bility or interest is shared by several agencies.
The work of the co=it l-ecs is subject to continuous
rcview by the DCI, the Doard, and by the +co=ie.tees them-
solves, In addition, the comdttee structure as a whole
is reviewed periodically by the Deputy to the I for
T'ational Intelliponce Pro,-,rams Evaluation. As a result
of reviews during the past oar, the five subcommit tees
listed in Attachrwent A have been abolished. It is in-
L nded to continue the existing committees and subcorLmittees
during the coning year, subject to the results of continuing
and periodic reviews indicated above.
