He pointed out that portions of this organization had worked closely with COMIREX and there was a good deal of interest in COMIREX activities as well as some other USIB committees. His basic question was how this organization could dovetail into the USIB structure. Asking if membership in USIB for was a practical solution, 25X1 I advised him that membership was probably out of the question both because of previous precedents and the fact that it would require revision of NSCID No.. 1. ecognized this. 25X1 2. I suggested that an effort be made to establish and main- tain close informal working relationships between the USIB 25X1 committee structure and organization. I recommended that if any kind of formal relationship was desired, it should be initiated for 25X1 25X1 following consultation with appropriate people, . e. g. r -1 I suggested the possibility of exchange 25X1 of letters between the DCI and, 25X1 I also indicated that attendance at USIB meetings by for specific items of special interest to him might well be arranged. I also recommended that F 25X1 organization maintain a close relationship with the DIA members of appropriate USIB committees. In closing the conversation I asked to keep the USIB Secretariat informed if any move should develop to establish anything more than informal, albeit close, working relationships between the new mapping and charting organization and the USIB committees, particularly COMIREX.
