SUBJECT : Progress on Research on SSC Final
Report
1. At present we estimate that the basic research on this
matter will be completed by the end of November. This will
have covered some 60 boxes of files on Cuban operations,
some three safe drawers of material in the Office of Security,
and the CI Staff files reflecting work with the Warren Commission
and relating to Lee Harvey Oswald.
2. There has been some preliminary consideration of issues
to be addressed in a final paper that will suxnnaarize the results
of the research and comment on Volume V of the SSC final report
(by the Schweiker subcommittee).
3. Progress over the next week or two will be incremental
rather than varying the above summary. We will be address-
ing the question of the report, but the final outline and the extent
of the discussion must wait an evaluation of the work being done
on LA Division files by a team of researchers. Progress on
this will be reported to you.
