Dear Judge Parker:
On November 9, 1976, my office was orally advised by
the United States Attorney's Office that, on that date, the
Government had filed certain affidavits and materials in opposi-
tion to a motion filed by plaintiffs to require defendants to
submit an indexing, itemization, and justification of materials
withheld, as required by Vaughn v. Rosen, 484 F.2d 820 (D.C.),
cert. denied, 415 U.S. 977 (1974). I have not yet received the
a ffa iavits and other materials which were apparently filed
with the Court on November 9, 1976. The United States Attorney's
Office was advised about this and has informed my office that an
additional copy of the materials filed will be sent to me.
Although I have not, yet read the materials filed by
the Government, I anticipate, based upon my conversations with
the United States Attorney's office concerning those materials,
that plaintiffs will want to submit a supplementary filing
within approximately seven days., after I receive the materials
filed by the Government. If, after reviewing those materials,

plaintiffs decide not to submit any supplementary filing, I
will so advise the Court promptly.
