In response to the request contained in
your letter of July 1, I am happy to endorse
to the NSC your request to have your Deputy
for the Intelligence Community, Admiral
Daniel J. Murphy, included as a member of the
NSC Standing Committee on Space Policy.
I will also note to the NSC that you
propose to have the Deputy Director for Science
and Technology continue to represent the Cen-
tral Intelligence Agency on the Standing Com-
mittee.

It would be helpful to me, and I believe to your
Committee, if Admiral Daniel J. Murphy (my Deputy for the
Intelligence Community) were included as a member of the
NSC Standing Committee on Space Policy. Admiral Murphy
now represents me in my overall responsibilities for the
supervision and direction of the Intelligence Community,
as well as supporting the Committee on Foreign Intelli-
gence on policy and resource issues affecting intelligence
activities. Additionally, he is responsible for those
Intelligence Community elements that provide tasking
guidance for intelligence collection, exploitation, and
dissemination, an area of interest to your Committee. I
.propose that the Deputy Director for Science and Technology
continue to represent the Central Intelligence Agency on
the Standing Committee.
