On Tuesday, 24 August 1976, Mr. Rick Inderfurth, Ms. Ann Karalekas, and Mr. Theodore Ralston of the SSCI Staff interviewed and were briefed by Chairman of the SIGINT Committee, and Mr. Richard Kerr, Vice Chairman of the COMIREX Committee, an and Ambassador Edward Little, Chairman of the 1uman esources Committee, and 25X1 The three SSCI staff members were accompanied to the briefings and interviews by PEI, OLC, 25X1 and myself. 2. Mr. Inderfurth was given a packet of material that he had requested be available to him during the briefings, containing the following five documents: (1) Community Chart - Flow of Information Through the Intelligence (2) Responses to Questions Raised by Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, Based on E. O. 11905 (3) Chart - U. S. Foreign Intelligence Community, Based on E. O. 11905 with attachment, list of ke ersonn within the Intelligence Community Staff (4) Chart - Organization of the Intelligence Community Staff with a list of key staff personnel (5) Chart - National Intelligence Production Mechanism -25X1 25X1 Approved For Release 200 08/03. CIA-.RDP 9M00983A0022MOO3001s-F Approved For ReleAe 2005/08Y~31:'CFA-Rb+?9M00983A0 00030015-6 Mr. Inderfurth said the package was exactly what he wanted and that it would be put to use to brief the members of the Subcommittee on Collection, Production, and Quality. 3. The three Committee Chairmen gave generalized briefings about their particular collection systems, programs, and committee activities. None of the Chairmen reported in any detail about the requirements mechanism due to the lack of time. The emphasis in each case was on the historical development of the Committee and on a description of typical operations. The SSCI staff members did not ask detailed questions. Mr. Inderfurth requested that each Committee Chairman provide him a copy of an organization and function chart of the various subcommittees, panels and working groups of the respective committee. During the HRC briefing, Mr. Inderfurth asked for the 1973 PFIAB study on the problems of collecting intelligence through human sources. He was informed by that that study was not the DCI's to release and that SSCI would have to go to the PFIAB for the document (MFR from IC-76-3270, dated 25 August 1976, subj: Senate Select Committee Staff Interview with Human Resources Committee Chairman). 4.
