`i I I LIAISON Talked with Dan Childs,
Senate Select Committee on Intelligence staff, regarding S. 1539, the
Intelligence Authorization Bill. Childs said no firm strategy plans had
been agreed to, but that there was some discussion of trying to get
unanimous consent that there be no debate on the bill. Childs said the
Committee was concerned that some Senators might ask to go into secret
session to discuss the bill, and that the question of an open budget, which
the Committee hopes to handle separately, would become inextricably
involved in the Authorization bill debate.
6. ADMINISTRATIVE - DELIVERIES Delivered
to John Ellif, - , ,Senate e on Intelligence staff, his notes from
his 15 June briefing by Chief, FR Division and 25X1
Chief,CI Staff.
7.1 1 LIAISON Received a call from Peg Polcusa,
Senate Select Committee on Intelligence staff, who said there had been some
last minute changes in Chairman Daniel K. Inouye's (D., Hawaii), Senate
Select. Committee on Intelligence, speech as CIA guest speaker and asked that
I get this word to Audrey Hatry, Clerk, Senate Select Committee on Intelligence
staff, who would be attending the speech. Pokusa was concerned that copies
of the older version of the speech would be given to the press. I did locate 25X1
Hatry in the auditorium and passed this message to her.
