MEMORANDUM ' FOR THE RECORD
SUBJECT: NSC Briefing Topics for 22 October 1954
1. The NSC meeting for this week is scheduled for 0900,
Friday, 22 October. It has been agreed that the Director's major
briefing topic will be a digest of NIE 11-6-54, "Soviet Guided
Missiles," for which text is being prepared by O/NE and graphics
by 0/CI, both in consultation with O/SI.
2: Under these circumstances, there will be no Divisions'
pre-NSC meeting for the assignment of additional briefing topics.
Instead, divisions will exercise their usual responsibility for
preparing briefing topics on items of particular concern, at
their own initiative.
3. In this connection, it is hoped that reports of signifi-
cant developments in the Saar conversations of this date (over and
above press reports) will be received in time to permit 25X1
preparation of a briefing topic, should a ou come of the con-
versations appear to threaten the London accords.
4. Schedule for divisions preparing topics'is as follows:
(a) electromatic text (original and six) by 1430,
Wedensday, 20 October;
(b) carding on Thursday, 21 October (details to follow).
