su;nt I Approved For Release 2004/08/31 : CIA-RDP79R00961A00090g71i5p20-6 DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE HEADQUARTERS UNITED STATES AIR FORCE WASHINGTON 25, D. C. IQDMORANDUM FOR CHAIRMAN, GUIDED MISSILES INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE Room 2A270, The Pentagon Washington 25, D. C. SUBJECT: USAF Proposed GMIC Reply to IAC 1. The attached memorandum is proposed by the USAF as the GMIC reply to the Secretary, Intelligence Advisory Committee, regarding the IAC post-mortem of NIE 11-5-57. This action is taken in compliance with the decision at the 28 May 1957 GMIC meeting where each of the active members of GMIC was requested to submit, for his agency, the proposed GMIC response. The attachedresponse is principally a discussion of the efforts being taken to fill intelligence gaps in the field of guided missiles and of methods to improve exploitation of existing intelligence. This discussion and the IAC post-mortem were generated by those obvious inadequacies in the NIE 11-5-57 which resulted from lack of essential information. It is to be understood that the GMIC reply to the IAC will reflect the views of the entire membership. Each member of GMIC will participate in the preparation and approval of the final reply. 2. Any inquiries regarding the above may be directed to Mr. E. M. Risley, AFOIN-2C1, Extension `(9637, or Mr. R. F.
