AND POLICIES (MILITARY CHAPTER)
to The predecessor of subject estimate, NIE 11-4-59, has been reviewed
by GMAIC in light of the Terms of Reference for the present estimate and
our comments are contained in subsequent paragraphs.
20 it Defense Forces (pares. 28-42). No change from NIE 11-3-60.
3. Theater Forces (paraso 43-53). No change from NIE 11-4-59.
40 :Naval Forces (paraso 54:65). In middle of para. 58, sentence
beginning "In lieu of" should be changed to read: In lieu of main battery guns
and torpedoes, these ships are believed to carry two types of cruise missiles
with speeds in the Mach 1 region and with effective ranges of about 30 na mo
against ships at sea. With the use of forward sea or airborne observers,
the ramie of one (SS-8) could be increased to about 100-150 na rno against
bins or land targets, and the range of the other (SS-13) could be increased
