REFERENCEt 0-2 Memorandum to IAC1 28 September 1951
1. 0-2 has recently reviewed its original request for a series
of area studies which woUld have appraised the direct effects uperi
the economic potential of the U.S. and the non-Communist world of the
ndenialg of the strategically most important resources of various
areas. SUbsequent to the request for such studies, NIE's and studies
by the EIC have or will fulfil the need expressed 1211951 for these
studies.
2. In light of the above, 0-2 recommends that its original
request for these studies be withdrawn, provided that the studies in
preparation by the E1C as contributions to the NIE46 series are
continued and are published as completed studies.
3. Withdrawal of the G-2 request includes the recommendation
that UI-6 be cancelled and the remaining estimates of this series
not be initiated.
