1. The Rabat Summit, and other military and political events
of-the following week or so, stimulated much discussion and even mare
apprehension in the Intelligence Community. We held a meeting on
1 November of collectors and analysts to discuss what we should be
doing in our areas of responsibility. .
2. DIA developed a paper on the military .forces of Egypt,
Syria, and o ocus collection

3. This paper contains the views of drafters within INR and
CIA./OCI on the perspectives of Egypt, Syria, Israel, and the USSR. It
is being circulated for comment, dissent, and suggestions but I offer
it now for your information.
