This is in response to your letter of 11. August requesting a brief
statement outlining the service rendered by your client
to this Agency and to the United States Government.
has indeed provided assistance to the Central Intelligence
Agency and to the United States Government. In particular, in May 1.975,
provided valuable assistance in connection with efforts of the
United States to rescue the merchant ship M.ayrau.ez and its crew, which
had been captured by the Cambodian govera,nent. At that time, drawing
on his special knowledge and experience, I provided information
that proved to be a significant contribution to the success of that operation.
In recognition of the valuable service contributed by the
Director of Central Intelligence addressed a letter of gratitude to him in
June :1975, a copy of which is enclosed herewith.
