Languages: English, Urdu, Bengali and probably various Indo-Pakistani dialects. Honors and decorations: Companion of the Order of the Indian Empire, 1926; Knight Commander of the Indian Empire, 1934; renounced in 1946. Career: 1922-1929 Chairman, Dacca Municipality, 1923-1929 Member, Executive Council, Dacca University. 1929-1934 Minister of Education (successfully piloted Compulsory Primary Education Bill in Bengal. Council, 1930)- 1934 Member, Government of Bengal Executive Council, 1936 Performed the Haji (Pilgrimage to Mecca.) 1938 Home Minister, Government of Bengal. 1941 Resigned from the Cabinet. 1943-1945 Chief Minister, Government of Bengal; Leader, Muslim League Parlimentary Party, Bengal, and leader of the opposition in Bengal Legislative Assembly. 1947 Elected, Constituent Assembly of Pakistan; Prime Minister, and Home Minister, Government of East Bengal; Elected, East Bengal Muslim League leader. 1948 Appointed Acting Governor-General; 1948-1951 Appointed Governor-General, November 12. 1951 Appointed interim Prime Minister to succeed the late Liaquat All Khan. Remarks: Khwaja Nazjmuddin, the former Governor-General, now 3*o1ding the post of Prime Minister, is reported to be a capable, though not brilliant administrator. 1] In the past he has shown that he lacked the intellectual capacity to grasp the essentials and the will to execute policies which were required at the momenta He is also reported to lack the power to decide issues when confronted with them and he has disclosed no aptitude to lead his colleagues. Little in the way of farsighted leadership may therefore be expected from him. As Governor-General Nazi.muddints function was purely ceremonial, Liaquat All Khan completely dominated the political scene.
