An over-all view of all civil air routes of Communist countries that extend beyond the borders of the Bloc is shown in Figure 1. The same information for each Communist country individually is shown in Figures 2 through 8. Cuba and Yugoslavia are treated as countries of the Free World in this research aid. Cities of the Free World not connected into the networks by route lines are shown on the maps to indicate that civil air agreements are in existence. All existing civil air agreements between Communist countries and countries of the Free World are shown in the table. An insert is provided in Figures 2 through 8 showing the trip number, the route and sequence of stops, the number of flights per week, and the type of aircraft used for each individual route. The changes reflected in this revision of A. ERA 64-2 are summarized below: The USSR signed air agreements with Iran, Tunisia, and the Congo (Brazzaville) and received overflight rights from the Central African Republic for scheduled flights to the Congo (Brazzaville). Extensive route changes by Aeroflot, the airline of the USSR, also have been incorporated. Flights by the USSR into West Africa have been reoriented and now include Tunis. The Moscow-Nicosia-Damascus route has been extended to Baghdad. Aeroflot's Asian flights have been revised considerably. Trip number SU045 has dropped the New Delhi stop and now stops at Karachi. Trip number SU061, a new flight, is scheduled to fly the Moscow-Teheran-Karachi-Colombo-Djakarta route. Teheran and Colombo were not previously served by Aeroflot. Czechoslovakia signed air agreements with Algeria and Greece and a provisional agreement with West Germany. The Czechoslovak air carrier, CSA, decreased its West African service and now performs flights to Conakry and Bamako every other week compared with the former weekly schedule. In the Middle East, CSA has deleted Teheran and added Sofia on its Prague-Athens-Damascus-Kabul route. Bulgaria signed an air agreement with Greece, and the Bul- garian carrier, TABSO, has since incorporated Athens into its Sofia- Tunis-Algiers route. A new flight, trip number LZ143, is scheduled Sofia-Athens-Damascus. Hungary has signed an air agreement with Luxembourg, and Communist China has signed an air agreement with Indonesia. * The estimates and conclusions in this research aid represent the best judgment of this Office as of 30 November 1964. In October the Central African Republic reportedly granted the USSR overflight rights for scheduled operations by Aeroflot to Brazzaville. However, these rights probably were not in the form of a civil air agreement. c. Uncertain evidence suggests the existence of an earlier agreement that was not implemented. d. PR = Provisional. e.
