No new information has been received that would change the conclusions reached in Special Na- tional Intelligence Estimate 98-67, SECURITY CONDI- TIONS IN URUGUAY, 23 March 1967. 2, The Communist Party of Uruguay's anti- Summit propaganda campaign is scheduled to go into high gear on 11 April, The Communists are not sanguine about their chances of organizing a suc- cessful general strike in the Punta del Este area. However, they are more hopeful for success in Montevideo where, so far, unions representing nearly 70,000 workers have announced strike sup- port. The Party apparently has picked 12 April for the general strike and 14 April for their ma- jor mass demonstration. 3. Elsewhere, the Communist Party of Chile (PCCh) is considering greeting Venezuelan Presi- dent Leoni with protest strikes, propaganda, and demonstrations when he visits Chile on 10 April en route to Punta del Este. if President o nson s.ou visit Chile the Communists probably would adopt protest measures similar to those being planned in Uruguay, Approved F elease 2006/02/07 : CIA-RDP79TO08 001800010013-2 Secret Secret Approved For Release 2006/02/07 : CIA-RDP79T00826AO01800010013-2
