MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD SUBJECT: Briefing by the Director of the CIA Subcommittee of House Armed Services - 23 May 1967 25X1A 25X1A 1. The Director, accompanied by met with the CIA Subcommittee of House Armed Services. The meeting commenced at 9:00 a. m, and ran until 10:00 a. in. Present from, the Subcommittee were: L. Mendel Rivers Philip J. Philbin William H. Bates Melvin Price Porter Hardy, Jr. William G. Bray Charles E. Bennett Charles A. Halleck Both Rues Blandford and Phil Kelleher from the staff were present. Prior to the hearing there was a sweep of the room and there was monitoring during the hearing. As usual, no transcript was taken. 1. The Director went through the item of Cuban Subversive Activities in Latin America verbatim. There were a few questions 25X1 A which Mr. Helms and were able to handle. 25X1A 3. Mr. Bray inquired about Agency involvement in the sate of M?16 rifles to Singapore. Mr. Helms at first indicated he would have to check into this but stated he had chocked this just recently and there was no truth to the story that CIA- was involved in any way.
