MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD
SUBJECT: Briefing by the Director of the Military Applications
S o ittee of the Joint Committee on Atomic
Energy - 8 November 1967
1. The Director met with the Military Applications Subcommittee
of the Joint Committee on Atomic Energy beginning at ten o'clock. The
meeting went until approximately 11:20 a. nx. Senator Jackson. as
Chairman of the Subcommittee, and also in his capacity as Chairman of
the Nuclear Safeguards Subcommittee of Senate Preparedness Investigating
Subcommittee of Senate Armed Services, specifically invited those members
of the Nuclear Safeguards Subcommittee which included Senator Stuart
Symington and Senator Margaret Chase Smith and also Senator John Stennis.

There was a technical sweep of the room prior to the hearing and
monitoring during the hearing. A transcript was taken of the -neeting.
Prior to the hearing, 20 copies of the prepared statement were
delivered and receipted for by 3CAE.
