Ecuador: The movement to oust President Arose-
mena has gained new strength as a result of his
drunken display at the public reception on 20 Decem-
ber for Chilean President Alessandri.
Many newspapers demand his removal, the mil-
itary leaders agree that he is unfit to hold office,
and the leaders of several political parties have in-
itiated procedures to call a special session of Con-
gress to impeach him.
The lack of cohesion among Arosemena's op-
ponents, combined with the general reluctance to
do anything during the Christmas holidays, may en-
able Arosemena to last out the remainder of th

Communist China: Certain military elements,
particularly in the air force, favor accommodation
with the USSR. in order to restore Soviet military
assistance.
Communist China - Mongolia: ( 'he announce-
ment on 23 December that Communist China and
Mongolia will soon conclude a border agreement re-
flects Peiping's anxiety to iron out frontier differ-
ences with its neighbors. The Chinese have signed
boundary accords with Burma and Nepal, and are
discussing their boundary with Pakistan.
Chinese troops had repeatedly violated
the 2,500-mile Sino-Mongolian frontier
