Guatemala: The Communists may attempt further
spectacular terrorist acts which could usher in a
new round of violence.

The US Embassy reports that the government
is prepared to meet any resumption of Communist
terrorism with strong measures, including a re-
vival of its extralegal counterterrorist campaign.
Such a development would be likely to bring a re-
turn to the high level of violence and insecurity
that prevailed before the government suspended its
sive last March.
