Tanzania-USSR: The Soviets have been asked to
withdraw their nine-man military training team from
the island of Zanzibar. The request comes as no
surprise. Mainland and island leaders agreed in Jan-
uary to end both the Canadian military training pro-
gram on the mainland and the Soviet one on the island.
The Tanzanians now intend to rely solely on the Chi-
nese Communists for all specialized training of their
defense forces.
