It operates direct international radiotelegraph circuits from Havana to New York, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, France, Spain, and the USSR and an internal circuit to Camaguey, Cuba. It also operates di- rect radiotelephone international circuits to Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, France, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, Spain, and Venezuela. c. It owns and operates the Cuban end of the "Over-the-Horizon" radio link that provides 24 telephone channels and a TV channel between Havana, Cuba, and Miami, Florida, for service with the US. 2. Plant Description a. The overseas high-frequency transmitter station is located in the outskirts of Havana at Finca Margarita. on the Carretera Wajay close to the town of San Pedro Bauta. In general, this radio station com- prises a series of single sideband and double sideband, high-frequency telephone and telegraph transmitters. The location of this site is 22057' W - 82028' w. b. The overseas high-frequency receiver station is also in the outskirts of Havana at Finca Cabanas, near Wajay. The location of this site is 22?58'06" N - 82?24'03" W. c. These high-frequency radio stations are connected to the con- trol terminal, located in downtown Havana at the headquarters building on Carlos III No. 508, by means of wire circuits leased from the Cuban Telephone Company. d. The headquarters building on Carlos III No. 508 is called the Masonic Building. Part of the basement, ground floor, second floor, and roof of this building is leased by the Radio Corporation for hous- ing its terminal equipment and offices. The terminal equipment in- cludes not only that for the high-frequency radio circuits but also the "Over-the-Horizon" terminal. This latter was manufactured by ITT Laboratories. e. The path of the "Over-the-Horizon" (see Figure 20) circuits is as follows: (1) The Western Electric "L" carrier channeling equipment, providing 24 voice circuits to the US, is located in the ground floor of Carlos III No. 508, Havana. (2) The Western Electric TD-2 microwave terminal also is lo- cated on the ground floor of Carlos III No. 508, Havana. (3) A 10-foot parabolic reflector and microwave antenna mounted on the roof of the same building and pointed at the town of Guanabo about 12 miles east of Havana on the seacoast. (4) The "Over-the-Horizon" radio terminal, complete with 60-foot reflector dishes spaced 400 feet apart, is located on the bluff about 1/2 mile directly behind the small beach resort of Guanabo. Because the dishes overlook the village and point north- wards toward Miami, this installation is clearly visible from Guanabo and from the sea of Guanabo. On the same station site is a small steel tower 150 feet tall which has a 10-foot dish pointed toward Havana; the other Western Electric TD-2 microwave terminal is located at this station. 3.
