(S/WNINTI:L) A Polish probable SA-6 surface-to-air missile (SAM) support f.reility under construction was new1v identified near Les/no. in the Silesian MilitarN District (SM1D), Poland, on imagery of (Figure 1). The installation, Les/no Probable S-\-O Support Facility 51-53-05N 0I6-37-05E), will prohabls house an SA-6 regiment, the fifth to he deployed with Polish forces. 2. (S/WNINTF L) The buildings under construction at the Les/no facility are similar to the buildings seen at the SA-6 support facility at Jelenia Gora Arms Barracks ? which house elements of a Polish SA-6 regiment (Figure 2). The buildings at both facilities ,ire unique to SA-6 support facilities. They consist of a two-hay drive-through support huilding and two vehicle storage buildings, one of which has a drive-through, high-has area on one end. Initial construction at Les/no was evident as early as October 1977. 3. (S/WNINTI1.) Since early 1978, when the conversion of Polish anisc nondnision,il antiaircraft artillery (AAA) regiments to SA-6 SAM regiments was first observed, fo,ir of the sis active AAA regiments have been converted. If this trend continues, the SA-6 regiment at Leszno will replace the Ministry of National Defense AAA Regiment located at I es/no Arm Barracks 001 3.2 nautical miles away.
