SUBJECT : Briefing on the Edwin G. Moore Espionage Case
1. Edwin G. Moore was arrested 22 December 1976 after
attempting to throw a package containing classified material
over the fence at the Soviet apartment complex on Tunlaw Road,
Washington, D. C. One of the documents within the packet was
a six-page fragment of the January 197.3 telephone directory.
This fragment contained the names of 305 Agency staff employees,
213 of whom are still employed by the Agency. Your name was
among those listed.
2. On 4 April 1977 a briefing will be held in 25X'
Headquarters, for all employees identified in the to ep one
directory fragment. The purpose of this briefing is to clarify
what has been done to date in connection with providing infor-
mation to the Department of Justice and Mr. Moore's defense
attorney in preparation for the upcoming trial and to explain
some of the security and legal issues involved. Representatives
of the Office of General Counsel and. the Office of Security
will be available to answer questions.
3. Directorate of Administration personnel will meet in
from 1300 to 1400 hours, Monday, 4 April 1977.
Every effort should be made to be in attendance. Any questions
concerning the above should be directed to Office 25X~
of Security, 25XI
