Thank you for your letter of 10th May, from which I
am very glad to note that you and are likely STAT
to be visiting. us in late October, and we shell E11 look
forward to seeing you. I think that by then, there may be
one or two things which we could usefully discuss, although
I do not anticipate that there will be any formal study
involved.
I am most grateful to you for arranging to let us
have the economic briefs direct from your Bureaus, rather
than as originally proposed from the cards preparea in
Washington, and I appreciate the way in which you have
understood our problem. This material in any event is
inevitably subject to relays which are, of course, acceptable,
but I feel that our duty to our consumers is to ensure that
such delays are reduced to the minimum, and that so far as
possible, procedure-1 formalities do not further slow up the
process.
I was very interested to get from a copy STAT
of your African survey, which is a, most thorough an detailed
piece of work. I am sure that I will wish to send you
comment on the part of our consumers here, but it will be
some little time before these are forthcoming. I will do my
best to speed them up, but I would be most grateful if I
could be kept informed by you of any specific proposals for
implementation as and when matters reach th-t stage, so that
I may keep our people here fully in the picture.
I am aware that I have not yet given you my views on
Television monitoring, which .-LL-s the subject of a letter You
