Approved For Release 2009/07/09: CIA-RDP80-00765A000100050025-2 . t URV,1Lit14I lAL ? THE BRITISH BROADCASTING CORPORATION Head Office : Broadcasting House, London, W.i Caversham Park, Reading, Berks. "TELEPHONE : READING 72742 TELEGRAMS AND CABLES: BROADCASTS, TELEX, LONDON 23rd June 1960 Dear Roger, Thank you for your letter of 6th June on the subject of Coordination of Requirements, and setting out the procedural changes you propose. In so far as our relations with your Field Bureaus, other than Kyrenia, are concerned, this will represent, I think, no change from our present system in that we do channel any requests for coverage or processing through your London Bureau, who I understand pass them to Washington. I am not entirely clear from your letter whether you are proposing that this procedure should also apply as between ourselves and Kyrenia, because if this is so I would have the greatest misgivings about it. You will know the close working relations between us in this field, and I am sure that you would not suggest an alteration to our present arrangements unless there were some particular reason which had arisen and of which I am not aware. Should this be so, however, I would appreciate your making this clear as I would certainly wish to discuss it with you in considerable detail, as I am sure it will not be in the best interests of our joint operation in this sphere. The closeness and effectiveness of our operation has been all the more impressed on me as a result of my recent visit to Cyprus, which I think was extremely useful, and I appreciate very much the kindness shown to me there. 7 shall look forward to hearing from you further on the subject of your Coordination plans, and I hope you can allay my present apprehensions. Yours sincerely, J. T. Campbell Head of Monitoring Service Chief, FBIS, 2430 E Street, N.W., Washington 21, D.C. Approved For Release 2009/07/09: CIA-RDP80-00765A000100050025-2
