Janney Director of Personnel SUBJECT Office of Personnel Report Week Ending 1 July 1977 1. (U) Co-op Program:- The Agency Co-op Coordinator was visited by Co-op officials from Virginia Polytechnic Institute on 28 June. Ms. Fran Saffels and Ms. Patty Foutz of VPI talked about their program and they also had an opportunity to talk informally with four Co-ops from VPI who are on duty with the Agency. 2. (U) Agency Image: Retirement Counseling and Employee Assistance Branch rece_fly held discussions on job hunting and employment opportunities with representatives of two employment/ recruiting firms in the Washington, D. C., area. The representatives of both firms agreed. that Government in general has a poor image and reputation in industry, thus making it more difficult for the Government retiree to find a job. They added, however, that in their opinion persons from CIA are looked upon more favorably when job hunting in industry than are those from other Government agencies and departments. 3. (U/AIUO) Summer Interns: Most of our Summer Interns are now on board. Those in the program will number 65 when all are on board -- the largest number of interns that we have had since the inception of the program. We are pleased with the way processing has progressed and have encountered no major problems as far as housing is concerned. 4. (U/AIUO) Upward Mobility: Twenty applicants have beep} selected to EOD on 7 July with the Upward Mobility Program (hire the disadvantaged). Letters have been sent to these individuals.
