1. "Since November 1952 large scale efforts have been underway to modernize the rolling
stock at the important railroad junctions of Vinnitsa and Zhmerinka in the Vinnitea
Oblast of the Ukraine. Large depots of rails, ties and machines for quick track-
laying are being established at various points.
2. "Old locomotives, and some of the 1951-52 Polish production, are being replaced by new
models.. The locomotives withdrawn from service are parked on the reserve tracks in
smaller stations between the functions:: Vinnitsa-Kazatin, V1nnitsa-Zhmerinka and
Zhmerinka-Proskurov. f!n the railroad line between Vinnitsa and Zhmerinka the follow-
'yAg rolling stock was stored at veriou small stations during the first half of
November 1952: 20 locomotives, and over 300 passenger cars, flat cars, tank cars and
refrigerator cars. All this rolling stock had been overhauled.
3. "All fire fighting equipment and anti-aircraft alarm installations in all railroad
stations in the Vinnitsa Oblast have been checked and are now in good working order.
4. "In October 1952 the Party authorities in the Vinnitsa Oblast organized secret
courses for the Pasty officials in Kolkhozes and NITS (Motor & Tractor) Stations.
The courses pertained to the protection of the main Vinnitsa-Zbmerinka railroad line.
