25X1 are rger and all are equipped with radar reflectors. 11 The buoys in Gdynia
25X1 picked up these buoys on the ship's radar equipment at Jstances up to 12
25X1 miles. The entrance channel was easily navigable by radar alone. The bus s
25X1 are we7.l lighted, and equipped with light reflectors.

one of the channel buoys was inoperative.

2, Dock Facilities. great strides have been made toward
2 5X1 the establishment of good port facilities in Gdynia, especially considering
-their condition when the Germans quit the port in W II. In addition to the
25X1 storage shed, many of the piers carry three sets of railroad tracks, which
25X1 permits direct discharge from the vessel into rolling stock. Also, when
necessary to aid in discharging, cranes can use these tracks. The longshore-
2 5X1 men in Gdynia seemed very anxious to please the ship and frequently asked the
Chief Mate if everything was as he desired it to be.
3. Security. Security measures standard for the port were imposed on the ship.
On entering there was a three and one half hour search; and on departure:
there was a three-hour search. PTothing out of the ordinary ship-discharging
routine was permitted without "Ispeci.al request". Other activities, such as
