Po tion
1. The whole area situated in the rear of the frontier-segment, between
Ognica and Bielinek,Sig7 is populated -Lo a rather small extent. Although the
majority of the localitieswere not damaged during World War II, except for i
some places like the little village of Garnowo, there are many empty
houses in these villages. Especially unpopulated are the villages direct-
ly on the Oder River, for example, Piaski, Radun, and Zaton Doly. The
large brickworks in this locality have not been put into operation.
Farther east the villages have around two-thirds the inhabitants the had in pre-
World war . times. 50X1-HUM
Governmaemt
9. "The At1 a area, partly densely forested (the forests remaiaod lmost
cgmpletoly untouched by war actions) belongs to the NawodnaLAi/oommllnity.
The community office is, however, not in this village. It has been trans-
ferred to nearby Krzymow. The only reason for this distant location is
that the community head (wojt) lives there. In Krzymow the community
police post is alao quartered.
Agriculture
3._"There are rather few PGRs (state-owned estates) in this community.
There is.a large one in Krzymow. There are two small ones in Graniczna
and Bary, both in the southern parts of the community, in the vicinity
of, ti7,rz town of. ChoJna.
4. 11Up to Aug 53 only one kolkhoz has been set up in Nawodna.
