The following information is based on personal observations of the source. 2. Conveyance. Source visited subject port in a merchant freighter of 7338 gross tons, 445' 8" length, 45' 3" beam and drawing 26' 2" of water. 3. Arrival-Departure, Vessel arrived 060900A Jan 54, being 30 days out of Messina, Italy and departed 181100A Jan 54 for Kiel, Germany. 4. Cargos Vessel discharged two thousand tons of pig iron and two thousand tons ground nut oil cakes. Filc.t Doat? Pilot boat met vessel in the harbor. It was a wooden constructed craft of about 30' in length. No other distinguishing features were noted in regerd to marking or signals. 6. Pilotage. Pilotage is compulsory and is available on a round-the-clock basis. Channel. Source stated approach channel depth was 291. 8. Tugs. Two tugs were employed to assist vessel in berthing.
