1. k Volksnol17ei regiment with a strength of about 2,500 men has been stat::cned
since the middle of August 193 north of JaWuiick near the railway line. The
unit is equipped with trucks and light nrm,_ ad vehicles. There were' 11
armored reconnaissance cars, 16 Puns 122 mm, 8 mortars 120 mm, 18 mortars
82 mm, and 26 heavy machine guns. The regiment has its own medical section
and a radio detachment of 15 men which is quartered in three H3A-type trucks
with closed bodies. The unit is equipped for f eld marching. The heavier
suns have TPA tractors and the lighter guns Phanomen open platform trucks
to tow them. In addition, the unit has 126 cargo trucks for personnel
transport.
2. This unit wrs organized in October 1952, and took part in maneuvers in Poland
during May, June and July 1953. It is to be transferred to Lobau, in Saxony,
at the end of October, when the barracks are ready.
