1. ''he Feinmessgeratewerk Zwonitz, in Erzgebirge, is a former Siemens & Haiske plant
which manufactures chiefly electric control equipment for airplanes, motor vehicles,
and elecl.rlc installations for VEB plants (radio industry). As long as it belonged
to the SAG plants, the produ.stion went mainly direct to the Soviet Union and there
was no trouble about. deliveries of material. Now there are shortages, especially
of metal indispensable to the manufacture of contacts, but in spite of the tight
material situation, production is currently increasing.
2. The electric control equipment turned out for the:RFT industry consists mainly of
millivolt (mV) apparatus with a measuring capacity up to one volt, and milliampere
(mA) apparatus wit.i a capacity up to 25 mA. They are chiefly for building into
radio sets, and are delivered In bakelite housings. Their diameter is about 4 cm
on the front side.
37 . In deliveries for the Soviet Union greater importance is attached to the production
of impulse returns (Impulswicaerholern) for automatic control installations used in
airways controls. This apparatus has approximate dimensions of 50 by 20 by 30 cm.
It is not completely assembled at Zwonitz, but apparently is fitted with its trans-
mitter tubes in the Soviet Union. Tubes about 5 cm high and having a metal top are
used in the control stand. The equipment weighs about 3 k'-. Aetween 10 and 12 are
manufactured monthly. Tube sockets and various parts, and a qu..irtz crystal. are
enclosed in a basket-like aluminum case.
4. Navigation instruments have been manufactured for shipyards, but this production
continued only for a few weeks. At the present time a frequenoy meter is being
manufacturedfOr:Sqt Zomeindustry; also gasoline flowmeters for the Soviet Union,
of which 132 were shipped out in Augusta
