1. Training of newly' recruited Volkepolizei commenced about 14 days ago at
Signal School in Dessau-Koehatedt. There are 236 trainees, of whom ubnu; ~6
are officer candidates. They ar' tly youths 1'j to 19 years old, and :v.t, t .y
were radio mechanics in civilian life.
2. Enlargement of the Signal School is planned at the end of this yerir. T,-L,--

A special unit was set up at the end of August in which already e;raer, _:.I .:~~
operators are trained in operating direction-finding apparatus. This DF appara.a,.

at Rochlitz. In this unit, 12 men at once are trained in an eight weeks' e7>1 :~=
course, to be assigned later to sending stations.
3. Up to the present, the Volkspolizei has about 600 trainees not belonging to
polizei alert units available for its signal I stations and is eagerly occupJ.d
converting from wire to radio eomnunication.1 The service personnel at this time
enough for the eight signal control stations, but the technical equipment appears :;.I.,%
to be fully adequate. A 200-vratt sender requisitioned by the school at Y'o ;h~ted? r_a:

Three 20-watt senders like those used by single Volkspolizei service star _cuic, hu.-e
been delivered from a depot in Berlin-K penick.
