1. A Diesel engine, around 1,500 revolutions and 320 hp., was built by
Buckau-Wolff in September 1953. Pretreatment work on a 480 hp. V-engine has
been finished. The main difficulties over materials are with crankshafts and
connecting rods. Engines are delivered chiefly to shipyards in the Soviet Zone
and to Poland. The production program calls currently for three types of
engines: a 100 hp. Diesel, a 300 hp. Diesel, and an 800 hp. Diesel. An
average of five 800 hp. engines are produced monthly, and about eight 300-
320 hp. It happens, however, as was the case in September, that new construction
has to be.neglected because of urgent repair orders. There were four 1,500 hp.
marine engines belonging to Soviet ships in the works in September for repair
and overhauling. Three more shipts engines are booked for October. This work
has to be given priority.
2. Deliveries of parts, many of which have to be manufactured according to blueprints,
are being made to the Diesel engine works at Rostock. These orders are also
treated as urgent.
