Tile ;:onstraction of the new Prague-Brno strategic railroad will be completed on
Novc,ai_e.r 1953. It will shorten communication with Vienna by 56 km, and will
greatly facilitate ,communication between Prague and Bratislava, which up to the
present- has been depend::-tt upon the overworked line Prague-Ceskd T:Febovd-
-rrat i slava . -
2. The xi,-?w ls_ne is t'ased on the important junction of Ceskomoravakd Vysodina, with
t::~ s~ar;nr_ of Havlitrkuv Brod, and from that point follows the line Piibyslav-
Vesela-Kxil'anov-Osove Bityska-Velka'BL.tis'-Ost_ovaoieelt~-v3rz3A.:.
3. The construction has taken four years. There are 13 tunnels and 27 bridges, the
most important of which is the Bridge of the Peace, of reinforaed -concrete.aCd 112m
long. There are numerous overpasses.
i+. An important station with a freight platform has been built at Kfffanov and
another at Velkd Mezifl6f, which will be connected from the main line with a new
ti ranch line to Tfebi .
