1. The Stalin Chesicai Factory is located at Most, formerl,,YY Brwc. The offices are in
Most, while the factory itself is in Maltheuern (Z61uPi). The firm was founded
after World War II as a state enterprise. The factory is equipped with modern
Czech machines. The office workers number 160, the force is one thousand
to 1,200 persons.
2. Only "ommuni.st Party members are accepted as wore:ers.
3. The factory is carefully guarded, the guard force being GOO persons, most of whom
,rear civilian clothes. In addition there axe secret nolice in the factory itself
and in the area around it. Unknown persons are carefully examined.
11. During 1952 there were serious accidents, which were attributed to sabotage by
"enemies of the people", but it was impossible to establish whether there was
genuine sabotage or not. 't'here was no publicity about either the accidents or
the inquiry; but it was said that there were 16 or 18 dead and about 50 injured,
and after the inquiry about 30 persons were dismissed as unreliable.
5. The factory does not, have its own generators, but gets electricity from the
state high tension line. It is connected with Maltheuern station by a spur
railroad J.ine. It is also served by its own trucks.
6. The Stalin works is a very important factory, which makes synthetic gasoline,
aviation as (of wrhich 40 percent goes to the Czech Air Force, the rest to
unknown: cis- tinations) , and industrial gases in tanks.
7. There was formerly a small and unimportant chemical factory at i%:/t?i t.;w. Since
19118 it has been reconstructed and enlarged'. into the largest and most ^m(:,-1ern
chemical factory in Czechoslovakia. The work force is about eight thousand,
and it occupies a territory of four sq km. In combination with the Explosia
factory of Semtin and the Una undertaking it forms a state trust. All these
make explosives and synthetic materials. The 1{ybitow combine is Gzuirded by
250 militia.
