1. The nieselmotorenwerk Rostock has manufactured 42 standard
duDieseliengines
production
(1400 hp. at 650 RPM) since the beginning of 1953.
of six of these is planned for 1954. Because there is not enough space
available, an enlargement of the main shop :There these engines are built
is planned for the spring of 1-954.
-. only four 8-cylinder 2-stroke engines have been built. They have 1160 hp.
at 375 RPM. They are installed as additional auxiliary engines in ships
built in Soviet Zone yards between 1949 and 1951. The engines are said to
be very economical. They run very quietly and steadily when throttled down
to 290 to 300 RPM and 900 hp-
