1. The government tot beginning Lo pay more and more attention to the resistance
movement among the Bulgarian people. In addition to the tricks and devious
devices of the Darjavna Sigurnost and the militia,'hraed forces were sent
into the Troian district, toward the and of Feb 1954. Their mission was to
clean up what remained of an armed resistance group, operating in the vicinity.
This group was devoting itself to sabotage. It was even trying to stir up
the villagers against the state tax officials.
2. The government is taking severe steps, using the armed forces at this particular
time, baoause it is afraid that, when spring comes, it will lose track of the
anti-Comunist partisans.
3. Other anti=Communist partisan activities have been reported in the province
of Burgas. Still more terroristic action in being taken In this region.
The reason for this is that there are a good marry Soviet officials in this
district. Hence any resistance here shows up the local aulgarisn Communist
officials, in the eyes of their bosses from the USSR, in a very bad light.
